Frequently Asked Questions

Here are a bunch of the questions we get all of the time. If you have others, let us know when you book in for our first conversation.

What exactly does an Exercise Physiologist do?

We’re university-qualified health professionals who specialise in using exercise as medicine. That means we design safe, personalised programs to help you move better, reduce pain, manage health conditions, and improve confidence. Think of us as the link between the doctor’s office and the gym.

Am I too old, unfit, or in too much pain to start?

Not at all. We work with people of all ages and abilities, from those who’ve never exercised before to people living with complex health conditions. It’s never too late to start — and often the people who feel “too far gone” are the ones who benefit the most.

Do I need a referral?

No referral is needed to see us. Some people are referred by their GP, but you’re also welcome to book in directly. If you do have a GP plan, Medicare or private health cover, we can help you use that too.

How much does it cost, and is it covered by Medicare or private health?

We’ll explain all the options upfront, once we know your situation we can tell you exactly whats involved. Many patients use Medicare GP management plans, private health extras, NDIS, DVA, or aged care funding. If you’re paying out-of-pocket, we’ll make sure you know the costs before you start.

How soon will I feel results?

Everyone is different, but many people notice improvements in strength, energy, and confidence within just a few weeks. Long-term changes take consistency, but we’ll celebrate every small win along the way.

Is it safe with my condition or medications?

Yes. Safety is our number one priority. We have experience working with people who have heart disease, diabetes, osteoporosis, arthritis, and many other conditions. We’ll tailor your program to your needs and keep in touch with your doctor as needed.

What happens in my first session?

Your first visit is all about getting to know you. We’ll talk through your health history, goals, and any concerns. We may do a few simple assessments, but there’s no pressure to jump into hard exercise. You’ll leave with a clear plan that’s built just for you.

Do I need to be fit already?

No. You don’t need to “get fit before you get fit.” Our role is to help you safely take the first step, no matter where you’re starting from.
